Debt collection: online, amicable and pre-legal recovery
Debt collection is recovering a debt once the normal payment term and reminders haven't worked. It starts amicably (out of court): you try to reach payment or a plan without going to court. Only if that fails does legal action follow. Credimigo is an alternative to the traditional collection agency: you keep your own name and relationship, the process runs automatically, and escalation to a local legal partner only happens with your approval.

Amicable vs legal recovery
More than eighty per cent of claims are resolved during the amicable phase. It's also the cheapest phase: no court fees, no bailiff, no months-long timeline.
| Amicable | Legal | |
|---|---|---|
| Timeline | Days to weeks | Months to years |
| Cost | Low, partly recoverable | Court fees plus bailiff |
| Customer relationship | Often recoverable | Usually permanently damaged |
| When to use | Standard first step | Only on refusal or dispute |
What a modern collection platform does differently
A traditional collection agency takes over the case and communicates under its own name. That's effective for relationships you've written off, but destructive for customers you want to keep.
- Credimigo communicates under your name and brand.
- Every step, reply and payment sits in one timeline per case.
- AI classifies incoming replies: payment promise, dispute, complaint or query.
- Disputes automatically pause the process and move to the review queue.
- On escalation, the legal partner receives a complete, auditable case file.
Cross-border debt collection
An unpaid invoice in Spain needs a different approach from one in Germany: different deadlines, tone and formal requirements. Without local knowledge, your letters carry no real weight.
Credimigo works with a network of local partners and adapts language, tone and formal elements per country.
Frequently asked questions
When should I start debt collection?
Once a correct final notice with a reasonable deadline has expired without payment or reply — typically fourteen to twenty-one days after the due date.
What does debt collection cost?
With Credimigo you pay EUR 27 for a Recover track and a success fee of two to three per cent on recovery. Statutory collection costs can be charged to the debtor if correctly announced beforehand.
Is there an alternative to a collection agency?
Yes. With debt collection software you run the amicable phase yourself under your own name, and only bring in a legal party when it's genuinely needed.
What if the debtor disputes the invoice?
Then the collection process stops. A dispute needs to be resolved on its merits; continuing to chase weakens your position. Credimigo detects disputes automatically and pauses the case.
Can I collect debts abroad?
Yes. Credimigo supports ten European countries with local language and local legal partners.
